Kommentar: För flera år sedan, innan Batman och Catwoman blev ett par, planerade Penguin, Riddler och Catwoman att råna Bruce Wayne på en ovärderlig artefakt i hans ägo. Detta handlar miniserien Batman: Killing Time om där Tom King återvänder som Batman-författare och tecknar gör David Marquez.

Kommentar: 2017 kom första numret av Sean Murphys egna skapelse Batman: White Knight ut – ett nytt grepp om Gothams svurne beskyddare där rollerna är ombytta: Batman hamnar bakom lås och bom eftersom hans metoder anses vara en fara och Jokern, till synes botad från sin galenskap, blir stadens nya frälsare. Serien följdes av Batman: Curse of the White Knight och nu är det dags för tredje delen: Beyond the White Knight.
ROGUES #1

Kommentar: Rogues är ett superskurkteam som mest figurerat som antagonister till The Flash. Teamet har haft olika medlemmar under åren och deras nuvarande ledare är Captain Cold. Den nya serien Rogues ges ut på DC Black Label och utspelas i en nära framtid där Captain Cold och övriga medlemmar försöker återupprätta sitt rykte genom en spektakulär sista stöt.

Kommentar: December 2017 kom första numret av två i serieskaparen Ed Piskors återberättelse av X-Mens historia med titeln X-Men: Grand Design. Den följdes av Tom Sciolis Fantastic Four: Grand Design och nu är turen kommen till Jim Rugg – Piskors nära vän från hemstaden Pittsburgh som han också driver den fenomenala Youtube-kanalen Cartoonist Kayfabe med – och hans version av min smaragdgröne vän Hulks öden och äventyr. Första delen heter Monster och den andra Madness (dyker upp i april 2022).

LITTLE MONSTERS #1

Kommentar: Jeff Lemire och Dustin Nguyen har tidigare samarbetat på rymdoperan Descender och dess uppföljare Ascender på Image Comics samt Robin and Batman på DC Comics. Deras nya samarbete på Image Comics beskriver Lemire själv som ”Lord Of The Flies meets child vampires” och det är en postapokalyptisk serie som handlar om en grupp vampyrkids som har överlevt mänskligheten och huserar i ruinerna av det som en gång var Los Angeles.

Kommentar: En av mina favoritserier på senare år är Jonathan Hickman och Nick Dragottas sci-fi-western East of West som avslutades 2019. Nu kommer en ny serie skapad av Dragotta och medförfattaren Caleb Goellner så spänn fast säkerhetsbältena alla ni som älskar underbar science fiction, skruvade karaktärer och dynamisk action.
ASTRO CITY: THAT WAS THEN…SPECIAL

Kommentar: Kurt Busieks hyllade och prisbelönade superhjälteserie Astro City såg dagens ljus 1995 på Image Comics och hamnade via omvägar slutligen hos DC:s nu nedlagda imprint Vertigo där serien avslutades 2018. Nu kommer serien tillbaka till Image Comics och förutom nya feta samlingsutgåvor så bjuds det även på ett specialnummer som utspelas i dåtid i detta fiktiva universum. Som vanligt står Brent Anderson för teckningarna och Alex Ross för karaktärsdesign och det underbara omslaget.
DARK HORSE COMICS
RADIO SPACEMAN #1

Kommentar: Under pandemins första år började Mike Mignola göra dagliga skisser som han sedan publicerade på Facebook. Skisserna blev snabbt virala och auktionerades sedan bort och intäkterna gick till kändiskocken José Andrés välgörenhetsorganisation World Central Kitchen. Dark Horse Comics gav även ut samlingsvolymen The Quarantine Sketchbook 2021 och nu har en av karaktärerna från dessa skisser fått en egen serie med titeln Radio Spaceman. Detta steampunkdoftande rymdäventyr är tecknat av Greg Hinkle och färglagt av Dave Stewart.

Kommentar: Scott Snyder har flera serier i full gång via ett samarbete med hans egna förlag Best Jackett Press och Comixology Originals. En av dessa, We Have Demons, tecknas av hans tidigare tecknarkollega Greg Capullo (Batman) och nu ges serien också ut i fysiska lösnummer på Dark Horse Comics.

Kommentar: Det här är en serie som egentligen borde ha varit med i inlägget för februari men som jag glömde bort av någon anledning. Eftersom jag är väldigt svag för allt som Jeff Lemire gör så vill jag därför göra lite extra reklam för den första fysiska samlingen av den kylslagna äventyrsserien Snow Angels (tecknat av Jock) som ursprungligen publicerades i digitala lösnummer på Comixology Originals.

Kommentar: Jag brukar inte göra reklam för nya story arcs av pågående serier, men varje nytt kapitel i Erica Slaughters berättelse förtjänar att uppmärksammas. James Tynion IV och Werther Dell’Ederas blodiga skräckserie Something is Killing the Children är både fasansfull och fantastisk på samma gång och något av det bästa man kan läsa i skräckgenren i serieform just nu.
